InfoCepts helped a global luxury retailer to become data-driven through a retail health index solution that provided store-level sales, promotion and traffic related key performance indicators (KPIs) in real-time. The solution included gamification elements to keep employees motivated and improve customer engagements across stores.
Covid-19 caused a tremendous reduction in customer traffic for most global retail businesses. With an uncertain industry outlook, stringent regulations, and decreasing retail sales, our client wanted to move to real-time sales reporting and KPI dashboards. While their BI systems produced about 10,000+ reports, they had low user adoption as users had to review multiple dashboards to get the insights they needed and the insights were not real-time. To help improve its data-driven decision making capabilities and user experience, it sought to implement a future-ready solution to track real-time, store-level success.
Operating in real time 24×7 across all levels of organizational hierarchy, the Retail Health Index solution enables our client to identify and track KPIs vital for its health. Our innovative data storytelling approach helped with the intuitive and novel application design. It was curated by UI/UX experts during extensive workshops and is well aligned with industry-standard design principles.
The solution is a one-stop scorecard considered as the organization’s live pulse. Actionable insights are streamed live on 70+ TV screens for ease-of-use at multiple sites within its divisional offices and stores. A central tool manages data displays to reduce manual dependency and avoid secondary devices.
Our application includes real-time and historical analysis cards for KPIs related to sales, purchased tickets, and traffic. These provide:
Gamification cards provide a live leader board of top competing brands, stores, categories, and sales associates to track performance. Real-time event cards track event sales and brand promotions. An entire day’s recap is displayed after store closure and during off-hours. The solution has a zero-click interface with built-in animations (e.g., multiple rotating cards that flip after a configurable interval).
To celebrate every little success, real-time notifications are displayed each time a milestone within a division or store is reached. Examples include a listing of stores achieving 50% or 100% of their daily target, store/sales associates having the highest sales metrics, and highest transaction value per store.
The solution empowers senior executives to push keynotes and announce their appreciation for high-performing stores and associates in real time. Data facts (with KPI definitions and business rules) are also displayed to promote data literacy. Animated GIFs and custom effects (e.g., raining celebratory ribbons) draw attention to reaching milestones. Store associates hitting their targets receive email recognition in real time; similarly, they can also track their progress on mobile devices.
